BTS Properties has announced that demolition and remediation works have commenced at the former Australian Woolshed site in Ferny Hills.

The nine hectare site – now known as Woolshed Grove – will be divided into 62 residential lots ranging in size from 410 sqm to 1000 sqm.

BTS Properties director, Sam Sciacca, said he was delighted that demolition works had commenced as it signified the next phase in the Australian Woolshed’s evolution.

“This is an important step towards rejuvenating this landmark site,” Mr Sciacca said.

Mr Sciacca said plans were in place to maintain the heritage of the site and to ensure that the works do not disrupt local residents or neighbouring bushland.

“This development will not only clean up the site, but will revive its heritage,” he said.

“The bushland setting will be preserved and some of the existing structures from the Australian Woolshed will be re-used for street scaping.”

The site represents one of the largest residential land releases within a 16 km radius of the Brisbane CBD in recent years.

It is expected that blocks will be available for sale by mid-2008.
